Northeast Agricultural University(NEAU), founded in Harbin in 1948,originally named Northeast Agricultural College, which was merged with Heilongjiang Institute of Agricultural Cadres Management in 1994， is now a key university directly under Heilongjiang province，one of universities of Project “211” and is honored as the outstanding university of undergraduate teaching evaluation by the ministry of education.

With strong discipline basis and greater integrated strength, NEAU has its advantage in agriculture and is characterized by life science and food science. NEAU comprises 19 colleges and 1 Teaching Department covering the disciplines of Agronomy, Engineering, Science, Economics and Management. There are 3 key disciplines of national level, 3 key (under cultivation) disciplines of national level, 2 key disciplines under the Agricultural Ministry, 2 key disciplines of provincial level, 6 first-class provincial key disciplines and 29 second–class ones.

The university attaches great importance to and extensively carries out international exchanges and cooperation. We have established relationships with 39 universities, colleges and research institutes including the United States, Japan, Russia, Canada, South Korea, Australia, Germany, Ireland and other countries. Especially since 1990s, NEAU has successively signed agreements on joint operation of schools with Khabarovsk State Technical University of Russia, Vladivostok Far Eastern State Technical Fisheries University of Russia and Michigan State University of USA.

Till now, NEAU has 208 foreign students from 22 different countries including Russia, South Korea , Japan, Benin, Sierra Leone, Ecuador and some others. Through extensive international exchanges and cooperation, NEAU has gradually formed the character of international exchanges which emphasize on Northeast Asia and learn wildly form others’ strong points and has became an important window for the agricultural education and scientific and cultural exchanges between China and Northeastern Asia.

College of International Culture Education is a specialized agency which take charge of the work of foreign students.
